The storytelling of "The Little Red Hen" has a beautiful moral, which although never spoken directly to the children, plants a seed in their souls to be gestated over time. In the story, the little red hen attempts to petition her barnyard comrades to assist her in the baking a of bread which would be eaten together for the common good of all. In the end, none of her lazy barnmates assist, and she therefore gets to receive all the bounty for just herself. This story is also a beautiful story for Fall because it alludes to how the grain in taken from its raw form in the field and made into a beautiful loaf of bread to eat.
